hi all,
to troubleshoot some problems with my computer, i recently wiped clean my powerbook and reinstalled tiger. no problems except for my network locations, which i've had to redo from scratch. i've searched, but have been unable to find where 'network locations' are stored so i can just copy over the folder (or files) from my pre-cleaning backup.

somebody help?

thanks.

~/Library/Recent Servers perhaps?

Those are the ones you have used recently in the "Connect to server" dialog.

no, i'm looking for the files that store information relating to system preferences -> location. this is information that makes it easy to store information on how the computer gets it's IP address.

the recent servers are, as you pointed out, the servers you most recently connected to.

Agreed. Using FSeventer (a program that lets you see filesystem changes in real time) that appears to be where network settings are stored.

tooki, that application (FSeventer) is awesome. Thank you for making me aware it existed!

It's come in really handy for exactly this purpose, of figuring out what file preferences are stored in. Plus it just looks cool when it's running!!
