You have to set that from about:config now because that setting was removed from the preferences graphical interface. This is the setting:
javascript.enabled - set to true

Are you using NoScript or YesScript? Those can both enable or disable javascript for individual sites.

Does the "post quick reply" button here work for you in Firefox? If so, Javascript is enabled.

What exactly is wrong with trying Newegg in Safari? Knowing what it's doing or not doing could point to what's wrong.

quick reply works here, in FF

In safari, NewEgg says my Safari is not up to date, when it is. I cant log in and then I cant order which ive been doing to a very long time.

does OS 10.6.8 allow an earlier Safari and is so , how might i Dl it.

so far, FF and Safari will not successfully order at NewEgg

I ordered at Amazon, but would like the NewEgg option.

many thanks

A PS: I called Newegg and spoke to them. they only said Safari on the mac caused problems.

they were not helpful, and said to use Ff. which also wont work.

What about chrome just for this ?

thanks

Recent versions of FireFox have removed the plethora of checkboxes (which apparently allowed incautious users to essentially break the browser). This includes the one for Javascript. But you can use this plugin to turn Java and Javascript on and off, along with enabling or disabling cookies, Flash, Silverlight, etc.

For what it's worth, I have no issues with the Newegg site with FireFox, Safari, Chrome, or Camino. But I definitely see your issue with FireFox's lack of the control for Javascript.
