Is there any hardware (like an AGP card) that specifically improves performance for Motion that anyone is aware of? I've got a dual 1.8 with a 1gb of RAM, which I know isn't a record breaker but the performance is bad enough that I can't even use some of the templates that come with Motion. The weakness in my system is the graphics card (GeForce FX 5200), so I know I need do something there, but I wondered if there was any made specifically for motion, or if the top of the line ATI card from the Apple store is as good as it gets.
A new video card should fix my motion troubles, right?

The best card to use is the NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL as it will be the fastest card to use right now.
I would also add at least 1 more GB of RAM, this does make a huge difference with motion.

What templates? I am running Motion 2 on a Powerbook G4 1.5GHz and the templates are perfectly useable for me, which one specifically? Perhaps you have a bigger problem going on?

Yep, it's your video card. A new one, either the NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL or the ATI Radeon X800 should run Motion a whole lot better. Right now you're basically using the lowest-performance card that Motion even supports, so I'm not surprised that performance isn't very good.
As far as I know there is no card made specifically for Motion, but anything newer will work fine (the GeForce FX 5200 is based on 3-year old technology).
I agree that you might want to think about bumping up your RAM to 2GB, but that won't make as much difference as the video card will. More RAM will give you a small boost, but a new card will be like night and day.
