I have done this accidently (don't know what keystroke I did) and have seen it done on video tutorials and want to know how to do it.

What I am talking about is a shortcut that will show the icons of the open applications and finder on the desktop so that you can switch between them, especially if you don't have the dock showing. Does this make sense?

I have looked through various OS X Leopard videos and cannot find it.
