Is the Autofill really only for the new iPod Shuffle ? I would really like to use this with my iPod mini since I have a +45GB library and I hate making random playlists all the time (which aren't all that random really). Maybe someone will figur out a hack ?

PS: I posted this here since it's an iTunes feature IMO, not an iPod feature.

Just make a smart playlist, limited to the amount you want on your iPod, filled in randomly by whatever criteria you like.

That's what I have been doing. But I want iTunes to do that for me with one click.

How are you "making random playlists all the time"? Smart playlists? What criteria?

As soon as we get some iPod Shuffles in, I can tell you how the autofill feature works. I'm pretty sure it will do the same thing for your mini if you restore it and start over. See in the middle of the page here http://www.apple.com/ipodmini/ :
And if the collection on your computer is bigger than iPod mini, you can let iTunes automatically choose a selection of songs to fill it up.

I restored my iPod but the autofill still doesn't pop up like they say on Apple's page. Could it be that I need to activate the automatic sync ?

My smart playlist settings:

Genre is not "Mix" (1hour+ mixes)
Duration is longer than Omin30sec
Duration is shorter than 10min
Rating between 3 and 5 stars
Limit to 3450 MB selected on a random basis.

Perhaps it'll come in a update for Minis.

That's my guess as well otherwise Apple's website would be a bit misleading.

Depending on what your complaint is, maybe. If you have your mini auto-synced to iTunes, you can just delete all of the songs in the synced playlist (or just the ones you don't want to hear anymore) and the smart playlist will repopulate itself. Is that what you want?
