While I was on vacation last week, I got to see MUSE in Philly at Festival Pier (which is a small but very nice venue).
I thought I'd take a rare moment to share with you guys the experience.
(You'll have to pardon the sketchy camera work, but I'd had it for all of 2 days and I don't know how to use it well yet)
Beginning - Knight of Cydonia
Feeling Good (Which had the best video and I loved the megaphone part)
A nice 'Rockstar' shot
How about a bootleg for Starlight I recorded?
MUSE - Starlight Festival Pier 8.10.07
Thank you and goodnight
You can view the rest of the images here.
New Born was probably my favorite performance (probably helped that it came right after Starlight), Supermassive Black Hole had a great video (Dancing Robot in my sig). At one point they threw out Hullaballoons, but I was so into the show I didn't have the presence of mind to photograph them (by the time I thought about it the spoil-sports had popped most of them). Actually here's the entire set-list:
1. Knights of Cydonia
2. Map of the Problematique
3. Hysteria
4. Supermassive Black Hole
5. Butterflies and Hurricanes
6. City of Delusion
7. Feeling Good
8. Sunburn
9. Invincible
10. Starlight
11. New Born
12. Time Is Running Out
13. Bliss
Encore:
14. Micro Cuts
15. Plug In Baby
16. Stockholm Syndrome
When I get home, I might upload the clips for when they came out and when the crowd went nuts at the KoC crescendo if I have the time.
Cheers.

Liked the third shot best, I think, even though it is a bit blurry. The lighting is sweet.
What camera did you get?

Well I usually agonize of some kind of major purchase such as this, but since I plan on making this my recreational camera, I decided to be a little more lax and decisive. A little research on c|net netted me the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W80, which was listed as a Editors' Top 7 mega-pixel Camera, Editors' Top Compact Camera, and Editors' Top Budget Camera, and only $250 to boot. The movie recording was the icing on the cake. Instant win. Bought it the same day.

I definitely will have to upload a few more clips so you can see other aspects of the light show.
Probably my favorite thing about the concert was Bellamy had a grand piano on stage, and it's hood was completely translucent. Whenever he hit a piano key a light would be projected onto specific part of the hood. It looked awesome. And he warmed up on it with "Entrance of the Gladiators" which amused the crowd.

Muse was the opener for My Chemical Romance around here last year...but the show was canceled due to the overwhelming contempt of MCR getting top billing.
I hope they headline soon, because it sounds like a really great time.

per wiki
Muse were forced to withdraw from several tour dates with My Chemical Romance in May because some of the crew and My Chemical Romance had food poisoning.
and seriously, it was worth every cent I spent.

Ever seen video of them playing in Europe? Makes the opening slot for MCR look like a slap in the face.
Such a great band.

Yeah, I'm not surprised they're under-appreciated in US. I look forward to the rumored Black Holes & Revelations tour DVD. Filmed at Wembley, too, I believe.
Supposedly when it came time to release their first CD over here, the record company requested they remove all the falsettos since they 'wouldn't play on US radio"
Thankfully MUSE ignored them.

Different perspective, Peter.
Out of curiosity, what American bands are 'big' in the UK?

Thanks.
Damn, I didn't even realize Killers were American. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by RHCP, but I think they're universally overrated.
Interpol is half Brit, so I don't know if I'd count them. Their charting seems to indicate the UK likes them more...

Anything Californication and back is quite good, new RHCP makes me cringe...
I didn't even think about attending the concert simply due to the fact that an awesome band would be playing second fiddle to a far, far inferior band.
Origin of Symmetry is better than anything MCR has done or will do in the future.

I saw Muse twice so far - both times in Hamburg.
From your pictures Dakar it seems like they did the exact same show as they did last year here!
They're my favorite band!

That's the moment when they jumped the shark for me. That damned song with all the held 'o' vowels at the end of a line...

I hear good things about MCR (not moreso than MUSE, but I'll be damned if I have more than maybe one song of theirs on iTunes.

I can't say I'm a big Kasabian fan, but I do own both their albums. Been listening to Shoot the Runner lately.

I know Matt Bellamy from way back when, he used to autograph young girlies and such like. (This would've been cool, but he asked to do it?)
Muse are an awesome live act. (Although slightly trivial and anthem-like in my opinion.)

...is anthem supposed to be an adjective there? I'm not understanding that last part.
