It's been almost a year and a half since this thread, so I thought I'd start a new one for those people that enjoyed it. I certainly like gawking at some of the obscene play counts and looking at everyone's diverse tastes (hell, last time the thread spurred me to purchase three CDs).

Feel free to post a pic of your top 25 played songs overall, or of 2007, or of your iTunes stats widget, if you still have that lying around (I'll have to dig mine back up). Anything you'd like to showoff.

My Top 25 Most Played

...and from back in the fall of '05, when my PB died.
Now let's see if any haters stop by

Since playcounts aren't stored in ID3 tags, mine have been reset many times... I moved my whole library pretty recently so this isn't an accurate representation of anything but my recent listening habits.

I would get involved with this, but I'm still recovering from last year's mass music loss. I still haven't imported a ton of my CDs, and a lot of my iTunes purchases are lost forever (Apple wasn't very kind when I asked if I could re-download them). I currently only have 498 songs on my computer.

I can tell you that my sig reflects what I've been listening to a lot lately though.

This sounds vaguely familiar. But hey, the past two guys don't have a ton of plays, so join in.

From my work machine, which I pretty well keep on Party Shuffle all day, every day, so it's relatively random:

And another one (image, that is—I like the Beatles, but wouldn’t count myself a true fan)! (Three month old machine, so relatively few plays. Constantly kept on entire-library-shuffle, so everything is quite random, which explains numbers 23 and 24.)

Yeah, looks like a lot of people have migrated since the last thread (Can you migrate play counts?). That said... Celine Dion? The rest of your stuff is pretty good, though.

For the love of god, man, get ahold of yourself! The only thing that could adequately explain #s 23 & 24 is your inability to execute a Command+delete.

^ She’s a relic of a tragic and confused adolescence (well, the adolescence itself wasn’t so bad, but the music tastes were) that has since turned into nostalgia. So, for better or for worse, I rather like those two albums...

And most of what’s in that list is quite mainstream, compared to great parts of my library. Most of these threads in the past have tended to elicit “WTF”s from most people.

Ah, I understand completely. It's interesting what I listen to from my youth.

Very true, but its fun. That said, I'm always surprised my list doesn't elicit a few of those. I suspect it's because people really don't give a damn what I'm listening to.

I don’t know about half the names on your list, but they look fairly normal, so they don’t stomp me, either. The “WTF”s are usually (apart from the Céline-related kind) due to seeing songs with names like Yng Ngolau Ddydd, dTigeas a Damhsadh, or 再见萤火虫. Then again, they’re also usually made by people who don’t know me very well

(Just noticed that Your Woman is in your top 25—great song!)

Edit: I just realised I said that the threads elicited “WTF”s, which was completely not what I meant to say. I meant that my replies in these threads tend to elicit “WTF”s. Always proofread your to make sure you don’t leave any out.

Incorrect interpretation. I meant because it's me, not because of what's on the list. Still, if you need me, I'll be over in the corner... crying.

All right, I'll play, but my playlist isn't nearly as diverse as everyone else's. I have about 4 artists that I listen a combined 70% of the time (roughly). Unfortunately one of them still isn't on my iPod from last year's mishap.

Reason #2 my play count is so low...

Check out the # of podcasts I still haven't listened to. I was so depressed about losing music that I started downloading podcasts like crazy and got addicted to a few. I've been whittling them down and listening to music a bit more again, but I'm still way behind on getting everything back.

In a song/artist/play count order:

1. Pump-it, Black Eyed Peas, 532
2. Here it goes again, OK Go, 436
3. Let's Get It Started, Black Eyed Peas, 412
4. Strange Craft, DRONE, 392
5. Original of the Species, U2, 318
6. The Imperial March, John Williams, 297
7. Beautiful Day, U2, 164
8. Ask the Lonely, Journey, 154
9. White and Nerdy, Weird Al, 134
10. Livin' on a Prayer, Bon Jovi, 133
11. Life is a highway, Rascal Flatts, 124
12. Feel Good, Inc, Gorillaz, 117
13. Rubber Band Man, The Spinners, 109
14. I've Been Everywhere, Johnny Cash, 102
15. Anti Climax, Openair, 95
16. Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger, Daft Punk, 78
17. Conroy, CAKE, 75
18. Smells like Nirvana, Weird Al, 75
19. Solo Voy, Sussie 4, 69
20. We will rock you, Queen, 64

22. Wheel in the sky, Journey, 44
23. Separate Ways, Journey, 43

Keep in mind things that have changed here in the last couple years--

1. The sudden departure of Tooki, the Tookinator.

2. Effgee's re-design and the auto-image-sizination-thingy™.

G*d forbid, though, some humorless stick-in-the-mud could be browsing the forums on an 8 baud modem, and hitting the 'abuse" button, right now, I suppose. I suggest we all just keep our heads down and hope this blows over without anyone getting hurt.

I am still gun shy. Banned without warning. Don't want to break anymore imaginary rules. Meek as a lamb.

Does the play count from an iPod get transfered to the iTunes library? That would most accurately display my listening habits. I rarely listen to music directly from my computer.

I posted some teeny tiny pictures and got banned. I mean we're talking 40 x 50 pixel pictures. At least that's what I think I got banned for. I was never told why.

Sorry to have taken this thread off topic Dakar.

Back on topic: You guys listen to a lot of music I have never heard of. I have been out of the music scene for about a decade. Now I listen to a lot more mellow and often children oriented fare.

If you sync, definitely. IIRC, it doesn't if you manually manage your music.

I barely play music through my iTunes. My iPod top 25 played would be far more indicitive of my overall music tastes.

I guess this just proves I'm a creature of habit when on my computer.

Apparently, I'm listening to either awesome Norwegian ambient, or total ****.

Bill Withers and Kanye are cool, but Mellowdrone? God, I suck.

Yeah, *sigh*, some mod decided that I violated an non-existing rule about double nicks.

Apparently, I'm the only one around here using more than one nick

Nope. My iTunes library barely shows any plays at all. I had to hook up my iPod and show the top 25 as well.

A year ago, you'd see about 10 Sigur Ros songs at the top of my playlist. I lost all of their music (iTunes Store) in the piece-of-crap music loss. I need to create a Wikipedia entry for it. " Jawbone's iPod Disaster of 2007."

I think they do transfer, I have songs in my library that I have never played on my Mac, but only on my iPod. ie, the 1st song I listed as my #1.

This is why I only buy music from the ITMS that is not available anywhere else. And even then I back it up on 8 different types of storage media and stash they in 4 different geographical locations in 3 different countries and 2 different hemispheres. Just to be safe.

We need to establish a date that we could use to honor JIP'D* '07 event. How about Feb. 29th?

you should check the "department of eagles" and "betty serveert" sometime, the first is a late find and the last a Dutch band I've known for 15 years.
