Hi. This is my first post - so go easy on me.
Do iBooks and Powerbooks use the same displays? I know they both run 1024 by 728 resolutions, but I have heard conflicting stories regarding the actual displays. Are they the same or not?
If the displays are identical, does the Powerbook's upgraded video card make its display clearer?

Same display in both, a custom calibration will help them come alive a bit better.

They're the same normally, but I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't occasionally come from different manufacturers. I don't think Apple would tie themselves unnecessarily to one company for something like this.
In my experience the screens on Apple's 12" laptops have been rubbish, but others either seem not to mind or have received better screens with theirs.

Thei do have different supplyers.
I read that some are excellent and some are average/bad.
My iBook 12" is OK.
But I work with someone who has a PB 12" and when looking at the same page on safari, she sees plain dark, I can see a dark green colour.
...
Check your machine in the shop, out of the box.

Is there a particular website that is best for doing that check? I'll be buying a new 12" soon.

SuperCal to the rescue. A very useful tool for calibrating displays.
Personally, I'm happy with the iBook G4's screen (I have the iBook G4/12/800MHz model). I've heard that the PowerBook 12/15 screens are slightly sharper and brighter, but then again, I've not compared one side by side using calibrated profiles to my liking.
