Hello,

I am having issues with my external firewire drive - a LaCie 160 gb model. For a couple months now, I have noticed that some of my iTunes files that were added a couple weeks previously have become corrupt (they would just stop playing mid way through tracks). So, I verified the disk in Apple DiskUtility, and it said the drive has file allocating overlap problems or something of that nature.

Then, I tried to repair it in TechTool, which did not do a thing. It was rather frustrating, since it recognized volume structure errors but wouldn't fix them.

Now, I am up to using DiskWarrior, in a last bid to figure out what is wrong with my drive and its overlapping files. I have been running DiskWarrior now for over three days, and it is still only on Step 6. So far, it has found 2,061 overlapping files.

How much longer is DiskWarrior going to take?

The only other solution is apparently I backup my data and then wipe the drive clean, which should reallocate everything as it should be. My question then is, what happens when I copy back these files which are overlapped back onto a wiped drive? Would it just get messed up all over again?

If you have any thoughts, please let me know.
