The BlacBook would look GREAT with that Dell monitor of AGoglanian's. I have that monitor...Looking forward to pairing it up with a Merom-based BlacBook in about 6 monhs!!!

i agree, i really want to sell my powerbook to get a macbook.

but i wont even dare think of switching to intel until i have a universal copy of photoshop in my posession.

by that point, the updates to the macbook will be out already, and i will be über-happy

Nice, love the pics! Keep them coming!

BTW, Simon, does your MBP look small compared to the BB, or is just the picture?

You are indeed mistaken, judging by his specs. Also, you can see the mag safe adaptor, ....if I'm not mistaken.

Ah, you may be correct. And I guess that the DVI connector on the other side. Is there a way to get bigger than the tiny image you get on the clickthrough? I can barely make any of this out.

Edit: And now of course I see that he's actually mentioned that it's a MBP. Sorry, but the four lines of dense text in his signature blended in with the actual content of the post.

What's the problem, that's most people's dream is to have your favorite computer in your work place and a bottle of beer along side regardless what kind of beer it is. The only thing that sux is that I notice everyone's pic of the Black MacBook has a greasy trackpad. Yuk for a new machine.

I'm afraid you are. You can actually see the MagSafe and the DVI on the MBP. The picture sucks, I know.

Just for you, I'll post a little family picture with the 12" PB, MB, MBP and a spare iBook I just got so you can see them all next to each other. Just give me another hour or so. Need to get some work done first.

Haha. Well, I do have a 23" Cinema Display too, but I was writing on my PowerBook. Funny how the MBP looks so small in that picture.

I guess it was just the weird angle at which I took the pic.

OK, here we go. This is part of the family. Couldn't get more onto the same table.

From left to right: 23" ACD, 15" MBP 2GHz, 13" MB 2GHz, 12" PB 1.5GHz, 12" iB 1.33GHz.

And for those of you wondering about the glossy screen - the MBP was on full brightness, the MB too. Look at the two screens. I must say - and I never believed I would say this - but I really like the glossy screen of the MB. It's much brighter and offers more contrast. The colors just look washed out on the matte screen compared to the vibrant colors of the glossy screen.

I'm impressed by the MacBooks screen, but I don't like the black any more. It looks like a cheap pc laptop chucked in with a load of nice looking Apple 'books.

While I've ragged on the blackbook, it does look pretty nice in person. Compared side by side with the whitebook it feels more expensive even if it's only a coat of paint. Another thing I like about the black vs. the white is the screen bezel. On the white model the bezel looks too large for the screen while you don't notice it on the black model.

The display bezel was a huge factor for me when I was trying to decide between the white/black in the store. I actually set the two side by side and watched an HD clip simutaniously on each - running in full screen. That was the tipping point =]

In that picture it almost looks like Aluminum on the bottom half with a black top. It would be sweet if they made all MacBooks like this. It actually looks really cool.

Yeah an Aluminum band around the edge would be cool, kind of how the orginal iBook was wiht the grey in the middle.

Or in a nod to the iPod, a chrome band. If they could only come up a chrome surface that would be scratch resistant I think an all chrome exterior with either a white or black interior would be very cool. Just imagine the Macbook with its lid up being a perfect mirror except with the glowing Apple logo in the center. Tres Cool

I'm in the market for a desk since the Crate & Barrel leaning Desk I'm using it too narrow.

Does anybody have any experience with Ikea's tabletop/leg combination?

Should you get their heavier tabletops instead of their particleboard kind?

Pictures don't do the Blackbook justice. Go to the Apple Store and play with a minty one. I've decided that the $150 is worth it. The Blackbook is much cooler than the Whitebook.

Yeah that's what happened to me I had a white, had to swap for problems but came home with a different paint job, also I don't like the way the keyboard is a different white, what I like about the black is it is BLACK black, like it's a black hole sucking light in, it's different that a PC black. And everyone keeps saying how the black will scratch, well I had a white and in 3 days it had those little microscratchs on it, my blackbook looks just like the first time I opened it little Mr. Clean and it's perfect!

LOL! Or so Apple has convinced you. Hopefully you enjoy it and don't regret it later. If so, more power to you.

This is supposed to be a good thing? It sounds so nefarious... I'd be afraid to get near that MacBook!

Both will scratch, but I do believe that the black finish will make large scratches more evident in the long-run.
