Yah I was talking in another thread about Apple bringing iTunes scroll bars to the OS, and letting users switch the colors like they did in OS 9.

That would be cool.

WOW!!
This desktop is more incredible than I had expected. Actually inspired me to take a screengrab with Leopard bone stock.

a question :

if i grab a screenshot from a program, and print it out on canvas, like a painting, and sell it, will i get copyright issues?

Good question. The problem lay in the ideas that:
1. You would be making a reproduction of something copyrighted.
2. You are essentially printing a picture perfect version of the thing in question, therein making it the thing you are printing.

If you were to paint what you saw on the screen, that would make it ok.
If you were to take photos / film of the stuff you had on screen and used it in an academic environment, then you'd be OK.

A great source for copyright answers is to call your local University and ask for the person that teaches copyright law. Most of the time, they will answer your question right off.
The problem is that copyright laws are wriggly and evil... Most of the time, they only really protect those with the most money, and tend to hold back industry. At any rate, talk to someone who knows for absolutely sure.

my first leopard customization attempt. i really only touched the 3d dock to make the color match the background. It really is a phenomenal background image, and kudos to the artist if he swings by here. if there's an interest i can make my dock mod files available.

Mind if I ask what those three dots on your menu bar are from, the middle one is blue?

My guess is that they are Synergy controls?
They look like the original PowerMetal widgets but I doubt they are.

Hi guys,

Is anybody working on a HUD windows theme? These HUD Windows are -as I was told by Joseph of unsanity- what Quick Look but also some other apps use.

Here`s a screenshot:

One last dock mod before bed. I call it "Orion" after the MM Shapeshifter mockup of a few years back that had me drooling for weeks.

These are all pretty sweet but have leftus side-dock users out!

Anyone know what file to mod to change/get rid of the 2D background?

Thanks!

I have a couple questions...

First I was curious about how your Dock looks different from the normal Leopard dock, how did you do that?

Second your menu bar on top does not look transparent, is it in fact not transparent and if so how did you do that as well?

Thanks for your help.

Currently no, though all my GUI work is still available publicly on my iDisk.
This winter at the very least I will throw a design up on my .mac website where everything will be available.

Instructions for the 2D dock here.

I drew a 21 pixel black border on the top of my desktop picture. Leopard calculates menubar opacity based on how dark the image behind it is, when it detects black it makes the menubar opaque.

Well I find the blue in the Aqua theme to be a bit TOO blue and too distracting. Even though it's very pretty! (I used to love the old 80s Aquafresh commercials) But these new blue ones are a bit subdued and look well with the graphite. And it matches the iTunes look. I am not sure if I'd like the dark grey look. It would have to have SOME color in it. Even the aqua scrollbars in graphite mode have SOME color.

I wish that was what the scrollbar looked like. And while we're at it, give the buttons, radio and checkboxes and the progress bars the same texture treatment. And make the menus a little less blue.

You basically mean get rid of Aqua. Yeah I agree. But as far as the scrolls being less blue. Naw.. these are subtle and fine.
