The hardware test CD that I am used to getting with Mac laptops doesn't seem to be included with my latest 15" PowerBook.

Oversight, or new standard practice?

It's not a separate CD, it is on the Restore/Installation CD. Just insert the CD, reboot and hold the Option key to run the Hardware Test portion of the disk.

I thought the restore disc coming with the latest PowerBooks was a dual layer DVD?

I ran into the same problem, no hardware test cd. But looking at the manual, it explains how to run the hardware test from the restore cd. I guess its a habit not to open the manual, but once in a while it's a good idea.

Crazy. Last several computers, I hadn't even taken the manuals out of the plastic. Nice for resale. :-)
