Ok so I got a "Kernel Panic" error and then I had to turn off the computer. When I press the power button, the hard drive starts up and the screen flickers and the little white light comes on in the front but nothing else happens. The screen is completely black. I've tried the command option P R and resetting (removing cord and battery and pressing power button for five seconds) numerous times but to no avail. Any other suggestions?
P.S. I'm using a 13'' Macbook Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. Only peripherals are wireless Mighty Mouse.

Maybe take it into the Apple store to get it checked out by them for free.

Have you backed up everything before this happened?
That happened to me when my powerbook had the Kernel Panic/HD issue, then I took it into the Apple store, they sent it into be fixed, then when I recieved it later that week, everything was gone. I should of backed everything up.

Sadly, no. But I wouldn't lose too much. School documents are on a thumb drive, photos are on memory card, my music is from CDs. My purchased music and TV shows would be gone, though....

Thats good, I lost a lot.
Maybe try not to turn on the computer for 20+ min and see what happens when you leave it off.

Ugh. If I lost my music and TV shows, that would suck. I hope they can fix it. Anyone else have any suggestion? I am at about wit's end here.

I already tried that. I've tried to boot in safe mode - unresponsive. I didn't boot the OS X discs, however, because they aren't with me.

I don't have my 1-800 APPLE complementary support, but I still have the 1 year. After this, I'm buying Apple Care ASAP.

Can't forget Pinball....What Windows lacks in user-friendliness and flair, it makes up for with free games!

If you have an iPod, unplug it. My Mac Pro always does this if I leave the iPod plugged in when I boot it.

I took it to the Mac store today, and it magically turned on. She looked at some logs and she said everything looked okay. I bring it home and it stops working again...

Are you using a wireless network at home with encryption?
I was having kernel panics whenever I would move from the campus unencrypted wireless LAN to my encrypted wireless LAN at home (in other words, daily). Airport update 2007-0002 seemed to take care of that, as it addressed connectivity issues with third-party wireless routers using encryption. After the update, no more KPs to date (this was over a week ago).
