USB is just as quick on my nano compared to my firewire 4G, i dont see why it bothers people so much that there is no firewire anymore

Sure, Firewire is faster than USB2 in sustainable throughput, but that doesn't magically make firewire more popular. It's a music player... for mass audiences... if they didn't go firewire, I don't think they would be #1 IMHO.

I have a 3g iPod, and I like that I can charge while I'm copying over songs. If It's going to be hooked up for an hour, it might as well charge/ not waste any battery.

Yes.

Good thing that USB does this as well.

Hmmm, I didn't think it did last time I used a USB to copy over songs....

Weird, I'll have to check again.
Is it on all USB ports? Or just 2.0?

USB charges all iPods since the 4th (click-wheel) generation (but not the 3rd generation - the one with the four buttons arranged above the scroll wheel).

Note that current iPods don't even ship with a power adapter - they're charged only via USB, unless you buy an extra power supply.

I have the 3g, so when I end up getting a new iPod, will I be able to use the usb to transfer songs/charge on computer, and then my firewire cable/power supply to charge in my bedroom?
