Why would you remove all parts apart?? Any purpose of doing it??

wonder if he put it back together and got it running (hey! look at all these extra parts! *PoOf* ... Uh Oh...

If by 'not soldered' you mean 'part of the logic board, sitting on the same piece of circuit board as the processor' then yes, it's not soldered.

I thought there was supposed to be a VESA mounting attachment on the back of the iMac. I'm not seeing it. Did Apple say there was one? or did folks assume there would be one?

It's an optional extra you can buy from the Apple store.
