Shocking to hear it's got that close of a release date. I never really got in to the Medal of Honor series until the release of the 10th Anniversary Edition pack, with all of the MoH games. I was impressed with MoH Allied Assault, but especially with Pacific Assault. Very cinematic feel to that game. The rest were decent enough. The musical scores were of course amazing for all of them.

Modern Warfare 2 Sells Nearly Five Million Copies In A Day - Modern warfare 2 - Kotaku
That $310 million was earned off the back of an estimated 4.7 million units sold, another frightening number when you consider it's again excluding sales from all the other PAL territories.
Plus 1.2 mil from UK and we're already nearing 6 mil.

Assuming the 360 got roughly 50% of the sales, and using wikipedia as a guide, after one day of sales MW2 is between the 3rd and 5th best selling 360 game of all time.

Friday News: We're gonna kill each other tonight Edition

NPD Time!

-360: 250K103K (-29%)
-PSP: 175K15K (-8%)
-PS2: 118K28K (-19%)

Check out the software sales chart after the break.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - PS3 - Sony - 537K
Wii Fit Plus - Wii - Nintendo - 441K
Borderlands - 360 - Take 2 - 418K
Wii Sports Resort - Wii - Nintendo - 314K

DJ Hero (Wii) - 19,000 units
DJ Hero (PS2) - 3,300 units

Thank god.

Was Modern Warfare 2 Really The "Biggest Launch In History"? - Modern warfare 2 - Kotaku
The answer is yes.

Xbox 360 passes 10 million consoles in Europe
Microsoft also cites an internal study, which found that 60 percent of Xbox 360 consoles are now housed in a "family living room." Furthermore, the study found that women now account for 35 percent of Xbox owners, and that 64 percent of Xbox owners are over the age of 25.

If that's true, we're guessing that the majority of Xbox Live headset owners make up the remaining 36 percent.
Zing!

And over 1 million were in MW2. I'll have my camera next to me tonight to get some proof.

No hiccup from me either. Not a fan of M$ but my experience of the Xbox 360 and XBL has only been good.

Now that I've said that, the Xbox will RROD tonight just before I get a 30 kill streak.

BTW, according to the leaderboard ranks, there's at least 3 mil copies of MW2 on the 360.

That's actually a more accurate qualifier. Three million gamertags have multiplayer ranks. But for context, many people do SIngle Player first, and Silver Members can't play online (they exist).

Perfect? You really do have a pothead's memory. That last update back in June cause Live to be down for almost 3 days. And what about that whole month of January 08? The service was so bad, MS decided to give away a free arcade game nobody wanted.

All I'm saying is that in the 4 years of my XBL subscription I've had little to anything to complain about. I expect any service to have outages once and a while, and really after 4 years nothing sticks out as a terrible experience.

Reggie: Wii 2 Theories Miss Key Point - Wii 2 - Kotaku

In jest, I replied: "So, no new Wii in 2010?"

Fils-Aime: "Not to announce with you here today."
So... there is no Wii HD, but we can't actually deny a new console is coming. A new console that will likely feature HD. Nice.

I don't think there's any chance the next Wii WONT have HD. They'll be forced to do it. But when that gets released is anybody's guess. Dakar's, actually.

Well, the gist I get from the article is that there is a new console in development (duh), they will of course, not market HD as its core feature (double duh) or call it the Wii HD (triple duh), and judging from Reggie's final answer, the release date is uncertain, but 2010 is not out of the question by a longshot.

Quick side-note on the Wii Motion+

My friend and I split the Metroid Prime Trilogy and the Wii Motion+ for my buddy's birthday. I must say I'm very surprised at the immediate difference the WM+ makes. Even before playing my friend was amazed at how much easier navigating the menus is. Massive difference in Conduit (his game of choice) and he picked up Metroid Prime (the first GC game) and started flying through it with ease.

Not that I'd go so far as to congratulate Nintendo for finally de-shitifying their controls, but at least it was 19.95 well spent. On the note of money we were definitely getting the MP Trilogy, but I had no idea how much the WM+ was. I said to my friend, "if it's 19.99 or less, I'm sold." Well done Nintendo, now if MS could only take a cue for their ridiculously overpriced wireless adapters.

Well, Conduit is supported, but the GC games in the Metroid Prime Trilogy probably aren't. Either way MP controlled very well, even when I played Deathmatch with a non-WM+ controller I was actually slightly impressed at the controls for once.

The Conduit controlled alright, but it always felt incredibly laggy, like every motion was delayed a half second. The Wii Motion+ really makes a huge difference.

Unless you're some sort of freegan living off the land, I don't see how that's something to complain about. As long as you're getting a good value for your money, you shouldn't be complaining.

I just wanted to add to sek's comment: You don't have to spend $50 a year. I've never paid more than $35 to renew my xbox live subscription. You just need to know where to look online. It's the same with MobileMe. People bitch and moan about the $99 price tag without knowing they can get it on Amazon for $63.

Maybe I'm a girly-man, but for the first time in years, a game has made me want to buy a console... and that game is the new Super Mario.

But then again, two of my favourite games of all time are Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros.

I'm excited to play the new Mario and all, looks like it's going to be an instant classic, but it's exactly the reason why I think the Wii is waste of money.

Do you really need a 200 dollar system to play a 2D side-scroller? Seems to me this game could run on an SNES.

Well, given the choice, for gaming, as it stands now I'd rather buy a (CAD$210) Wii than a (CAD$300) PS3.

I already have an Xbox 360, but the game I play the most is Robotron: 2084 from Xbox Arcade.

I just wish it had an option to use 8/16-bit graphics, and be totally retro.

As for the PS3, prices etc - I do think that the price drop has helped. Finally picking one up means I don't have to worry about what console a game is on.

Completely believable, and pretty sad.
