From today to July 31 OSX is bundled with iBooks purchased by resellers from Tech Data (CD & DVD in stock!). This is for sure. I don't know if others (distributors or Apple)are doing it too.

What resellers are these? I was going to wait for MWNY to buy in order to get OS X for free, but if someone is already bundling OS X, I'm buying now.

This is MaxMac but I'm at work... As far as I know any reseller who is purchasing the iBooks from Tech Data (distributor of computer productor, does not sell to end users) will have the OS X "flat pack bundle" with is at no charge. I confirmed this with my sales rep @ tech data. It is supposed to be on all Apple systems.

I ordered mine from the Apple Store and it has 5 CDs:

iBook Software Install 9.1
iBook Software Restore 9.1
iBook Applications 1.2
iMove 2 2.0.3
Apple Hardware Test 1.2

No MacOS X on any of them (but I already have it anyway)

According to my Apple rep, this will be announced at 3pm EST. Announced where and by whom I have no idea. She also said that the combo will be available through the channel, not just from Apple direct. I will see at 3pm when I place my orders.

I just called Apple. I don't get a free Mac OS X CD because I've already taken delivery of my iBook. It's no big deal, really. I like Mac OS 9.x.

So, I ordered my ibook on the 6th, but it hassn't shipped yet. So does that mean that X is going to come pre-installed on the HD, is a free copy going to ship with it (not installed), or am I not going to get X at all?? That would really suck, but I could always call and cancel before it shipps right? And then place my order again and I would get X. I'm thinking I should call apple because no body really knows the real answere

They got their iBooks while others had to wait (and still are waiting). I think the price of that convenience is... um... $129?

Went looking at the apple site, though some of you might already know this or had been posted in another thread, but if you bought a new mac recently and it didn't come with you Apple will get you OS X. Check out this site: http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/
