Default Folder in Open/Save Dialog Box

Anyone have any problems with the General Controls Panel's option of choosing the default folder for OPEN/SAVE Dialog when first using an application? Selecting the "Last Folder Used in Application" seems to always give me the folder from which the application is store.

A quick fix would be to get Default Foder at www.versiontracker.com. It goes to the last folder used, anywhere. You can also set up favorites, default folders, trash items, rename items all from open/save dialog.

IMO, default folder is a MUST NEED utulity for macos. It's what apple should have done. It works with old style "file open..." menu option, along with navigation support. www.stclairsoftware.com

Let me just chime in with an emphatic "hell yeah" on this one. Default Folder is essential; working on a Mac without this, for me, is like missing a limb.

Thanks for the help, folks, and I've now installed this application. But I actually miss the Hard Drive icon that appeared in the dialog box--for those who didn't use it, it knocked you up one level when you're moving through files--very effective. This app doesn't seem to have that option except to resort to the keyboard with an Apple-[up arrow]. Any suggestions?

My version (and I have been using this gem for 3.5 years now) has the feature you say is not there (right next to the Favorites Folder in the open/save dialog box). I even use the preference to turn off Navigation Services because I like the way DefaultFolder handles things better.
--Navigation Services was a step in the right direction, but DefaultFolder is better!
Can't say enough...!
