Does anyone know if it's good? Is it worth the $30? It looked pretty cool at the site.
Oh, and has Icewind Dale 2 been ported to mac?
EDIT: Actually, another question: How does it compare with Baldur's Gate 2?

Worth $30? You bet. If you liked BG, you'll like Icewind Dale. It is good. I paid $60 for it and thought it was worth it.

I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

ID2 hasn't been ported to Mac.
It is better to compare BG1 to ID1. Featurewise ID1 falls between the two BG games, but I never liked BG2. It sucked royally plotwise and was really slow on the Mac. BG1 crashed a lot but was really great!

What was annoying with BG1 was the CD swap. A lot of it. I'd really have to rate the Baldur's Gate series as a whole, as just playing one installment isn't enough to give you the epic feel of the story.
Icewind Dale is a fun game, though unlike Baldur's Gate, you don't have a player character to build and control. Rather, you play out the whole party. In Baldur' Gate, the story and the characters sort of revolved around you. The same goes for Neverwinter Nights.
Neither Icewind Dale: Hearts of Winter nor Icewind Dale II have been ported to the Mac. For that matter, neither has Planescape Torment, darn it.

Really? I didn't know that. Sounds interesting, though. I read (I think) that there's online-play in Icewind Dale. Is this any good (if it exists)?

It's a little dated graphically--640x480--but runs on older hardware and doesn't look half bad. Not my kind of game so I can't judge, but it got good reviews and I got it on sale for $5 (MacPlay special). I bet you can find it for less than $30.
