I have Classic running with with only the Appearance extension, but whenever I try to add Apple ENet or OT and TCP/IP to give Eudora the environment it wants Classic stops working.

I understand that ENet may touch the hardware and be a no-no in that regard, but OT?

What don't I understand about the situation? If anyone actually has Eudora running under Classic (via PPP or better yet, Ethernet) please reply and let me know what extensions/control panels are required I'd be most happy.

It's the only thing keeping me from running X as a full-time OS.

Many thanks to the readership; y'all are awesome.

I re-updated 9.0.4 and now Classic starts up with OT (but not TCP/IP). That might be why Eudora isn't happy. I may go back to tweak with it but I'm a little nervous about it...

I have Eudora 4.2.1 running under Classic (OS 9.0.4). I don't think there are any necessary extensions to be added to the standard OS 9 install.

Do you have the Apple Built-in Ethernet extension installed? (I'm running a BW350, by the way.) With regards to OT, I have OT and OT ASLM Modules installed.

I think you need to startup with OS 9, change the extensions, then boot back into OS X for things to work properly. I remember reading somewhere that this was more effective than trying to change it through the Classic interface.

Try using the "Mac OS 9 All" Set in Conflict Catcher (from within OS 9, not classic) and then restarting into OS X.

I do have the TCP/IP control panel enabled as well as all the other Internet related cdev's.

Thank you eklee!

It works just as you said. I did a clean install of 9.0.0, rebooted, upgraded to 9.0.4, rebooted, set to All, and now Eudora works wonderfully.

Thanks!

Eudora works wonderfully?

How do you get your email to download?
Do you use PPP or direct LAN connection?

Thanks.

I use a LAN connection (DHCP) at work and a DSL connection (static IP) at home.

I haven't configured PPP at all with OS X.
