When I try to use 'software update' on my dual 8/OS 9.2.2 Mac, to download and install any new updates, a message comes up which warms that Software Update will
quit all open applications and restarted the computer, etc.....
The problem is that my connection to the Internet is via Verizon DSL, which Software Update sees as an application.
So it shuts it down, which disconnects the computer from the internet, which of course stops the download.
Now I can usually go to the Apple page, and download from there, but...
1). Its a nuisance,
2). My reading of the instructions for installing FCPro 3 require that some updates be done on line, so - theoretically - I could have trouble.
Is there any easy fix?
I'm told that if I get a router (Xrouter Pro was suggested), and that this would somehow keep the computer online, though how it would stop Software Update from recognizing Verizon DSL as an app is less than clear to me.
What do y'all suggest?
Thanks,
Hal
