first of all happy christmas and a happy new year to you all, i havent been on the forums since before xmas cause i havent had any uni work that i'm avoiding doing, so have been out of my routine.

im sure a few of you will have seen this post over at engadget:

http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/02/v...cy-low-morale/

so the basis of the story is that vibrations cause by added noise can slow down the performance of your hdd? so does the same happen with your imac when playing music through the internal speaker... just a thought.... discuss away

Interesting idea ... but I haven't seen anything like that on any of our three iMacs, even the old G3 500 MHz one, and all three are constantly playing iTunes.
iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz, 4 Gig RAM, 10.6.8
Macbook Pro Retina Display 15", 16 GB RAM, 10.7.4
iMac G5 2GHz, 1.5 GB RAM, 10.5.8
Macbook Air Core 2 Duo 4 Gig RAM, 10.6.8

well i dont think you actually feel the difference, its just me nit picking, just wondered if whats shown in the video has actually been happening for years on a day to day bases with the imac, cause if u have music on you can clearly feel the vibrations all over the body

I suspect any type of vibration whether it's shouting or moving the computer around could
be a potential cause of latency.

But it's a momentary thing unless you mounted your Macintosh to a paint-shaker.
