Greetings all,

I would like to connect an external ssd drive to my iMac. Mainly for storage and maybe boot if faster than the fusion drive installed. Having a hard time identifying HW I need. I am on Catalina so my Thunderbolt 2/ DisplayPort should support now.

Anyone have recommendations for HD, enclosure and cables?

Thanks for anything and hope you all are well!

If you want storage only, any USB 3 SSD will be fast enough. If you absolutely want speed at any cost, get a Samsung X5 and Apple's Thunderbolt 2 to 3 converter:

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.
