Freefall is the radical screensaver demoed at WWDC, but it's $39.95. Hmmm.

It looks really cool. If it was $20 I'd buy it in a heartbeat, but $40 seems a little stiff. Hmmm.

We need less Democrats and Republicans, and more people that think for themselves.

It looks as if they either made a mistake at first, or revised the price.

Was hoping for a free screensaver version... but this is still pretty cool, at least I can check it out. Have no use for a $30 satellite simulator though. Wasn't expecting it to run very well on my 800Mhz TiBook but it's pretty good, not liquid smooth but runs faster than Safari when I'm typing into this reply box with those animated icons to the side.

What a jip! This guy is a singular developer, just some guy with some time on his hands and a good idea. Steve invites this nobody up on stage to show off his great little app, and he offers a free screen saver download for it. Now he's charging! Geez.
Well, the SGP4 algorithm he's using is widely available, and in fact there are plenty of open source implementations of it... The OpenGL aspect is trivial. Think I'll code a nice screen saver of this and call it Free FreeFall!

I think it's pretty neat. Though it's a bit of a CPU hog, and I have no use for it as an "Application." As such, I'd only really run it as a screen saver. For this "neat" factor, I'd probably pay $10.
But $30 is way more than I'd pay for a screensaver. As such, I ran it for a while, and that'll be the extent of it, because all the free screen saver does is prompt me to pay for the full version. Sorry, $30 is enough for OmniWeb or something more useful

Yeah... uh. Is that supposed to convince me to spend $30?

To call the demo crippled is being generous. There has to be a balance between what you get for free and the cost to unlock the true potential of a program and this guy hasn't got a clue. It's probably a very cool program but the demo is just too annoying to encourage me to pay for it.

I've been looking forward to this program ever since the guy showed it at Macworld. I'm am seriously disappointed that the screensaver version of it isn't free as was promised.

He showed it at WWDC 2004 and never said it would be free.

Are you sure?? I thought he said the screensaver would be free, while the actual application itself would be for purchase.

Yes. I just viewed the WWDC QT broadcast because I also thought the screensaver would be free. But there is no mention of the cost, only that it would be available soon.
