I have a new MacBook and I got the DisplayPort-DVI adapter as well. What I am wondering is will the adapter work with a DVI-HDMI cable (like the Belkin one sold at Apple.com) on my HDTV? Is there a possibility it will give HDCP errors?

Alos, does anyone know if Apple will be making a DisplayPort-HDMI adapter so it can carry sound as well?

Cheers!

Yes. Once you get it to DVI, you can convert it to HDMI. HDCP shouldn't come into play. Of course, you need a separate audio cable from your headphone jack since the audio is not passed through DVI.

Apple probably won't make DP to HDMI because there's no point. Just chain DP to DVI, DVI to HDMI.

Well DVI cannot carry audio, however, DisplayPort can. So if they made a DisplayPort to HDMI, it would eliminate the need for a secondary audio cable. So in my opinion, that's a good point.

DisplayPort just passes through DVI, so it won't cause any HDCP issues. But I don't know that the MacBooks support HDCP at all.

^^ Thanks Mduell. HDCP is annoying anyways.

I am really hoping Apple makes a DisplayPort - HDMI adapter soon...
