I was rooting for them. Curently they are behind 3-0 to Paraguay in the 70th minute-- will be tough to come back from that. Winner goes to play for the gold, loser goes to play for the bronze.

Regardless, Im proud of them

From ESPN.com:

"Midfielder Ahmed Manajid told SI's Grant Wahl that if he weren't playing soccer, he'd be back in his home of Fallujah fighting the coalition. "I want to defend my home. If a stranger invades America and the people resist, does that mean they are terrorists?" he said. "Everyone [in Fallujah] has been labeled a terrorist. These are all lies. Fallujah people are some of the best people in Iraq.""

Yeah I'm awfully proud of them too. Yeah Ahmed, you stupid a**, you'd have a chance to fight whereas if Saddam's boys were still there you'd get some torture or something. I just love the Middle East.

That is, of course, the spirit of the olympic games. Guess I'm just a hopless romantic

Shame they lost that match, but it looks like they'll still be playing for the bronze on Friday.

I'm glad to see this, though. A gold would have been the stuff of cheesy sports movies for the next 20 years, and it's a bummer about losing that chance, but even a bronze shows that in the darkest of times, light can still be found.
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

A comment typically taken out of context providing a nutjob with an excuse to scream "Ungrateful terrorist!!". The Iraqi team were incenced because GW used them in one of his election ads.

In what context would that statement be perceived as a good thing to hear to a mostly Western audience?

They deserved to lose, ungrateful bastards.

At least now when they lose, they won't have to worry about getting their testicles chopped off when they get back home.

Where's uday when you need him ?

Sounds pretty good to me. What's the problem with it?

Hes right though. If there was some nutter in charge of America (No comment) and some powerful Arab nation came along and turned your country to sh!t you wouldn't be to happy. Your a scarily patriotic lot and i hate to think what you would do.

We have an entire forum dedicated to political and war bickering. If you want to talk about that sort of thing, go there. If you want to talk about the Iraqi soccer team's performance in the Olympics, do that here.

Good job, Iraq. Win bronze, go back home, and send us home. Sorry for the mess. Wish you best of luck in cleaning up after us.

OK fine, then when this is all over in a few days he can go do just that. When he gets killed in the process then it was his life to lose. I don't think Manchester United will feel any sense of loss.
