Good for Canada. Apple is finally treating USA North a little better. Maybe it's to make up for the raping you guys get on everything else in the Apple Store.
Does the sound quality suck as bad as the US version? 128 sucketh to no endeth. Cymbals? Nah... beating a bag of dry oatmeal with a wooden spoon is what cymbals sound like at 128k

Actually Canadians get many things cheaper because of the physiological barrier.
In the US many things that cost $1 are still a dollar up here such as chocolate bars and soft drinks. Guess the same thing is happening in this case.

0.82 cents US is pretty cheap. That's US$0.0082. Anyways, I know what you mean. BTW, it's 84 cents, but close enough.

OTOH, the 20" iMac is CAD$2499, or US$2115. (It's US$1899 in the US.)

Well, by your logic, the iMac should be priced at CAD$1999 or something like that. Anyways, I hope the price drops to CAD$2349 or less in January.
But yeah, the Canadian 99 cent price for iTMS Canada is sweet. They pretty much had to though, since the competition is 99 cents too.

No more having to hear the Canadians complain that they don't have iTMS. No more When is iTMS coming to Canada we still don't have it yet.
I guess we'll now hear about how it doesn't have a lot of music on it yet.
Congrats nonetheless to our neighbors to the North.

I think $1 CAN is too much for a song. The albums are a total rip off as you can buy the real CD online and have it shipped for much less most of the time.

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but if I remember correctly, there is no duty on change. Since the song is less than $1, maybe there is no exchange rate for the songs. Did they ask that instead of charging the songs, you mail them a bag of pennies?
Besides, it's not unusual for companies to offer discount pricing for third world countries.
(That was joke, no need for anyone to get their panties in a knot)

For 84 cents a tune, Canadians should only be allowed to purchase the instrumental version of songs. They don't deserve the vocals for that price.
Apple should also charge a special Canadian tariff, just to connect to the store, inorder to browse. Also, French Canadians should pay more than other Canadians. Don't ask me why, they just should.

And perhaps Canadians should crawl around a little bit, inorder to find some much needed humor, which they are clearly lacking in.

"Apple Computer, which opened the virtual doors on the Canadian store late Wednesday, is selling songs for 99 Canadian cents, which translates to about 83 U.S. cents, 16 percent less than those in the United States pay for their iTunes.
It's an even bigger bargain when compared with Apple's European store, where most tracks cost 99 euro cents, which these days translates to $1.31 U.S. and a whopping $1.56 Canadian. Those in Britain pay even more, 79 pence ($1.52, or $1.81 Canadian)."

This is great, now instead of paying 20 dollars for Hawk Nelson's album, I can pay... 12! This is going to have me buying a lot more music and throwing away even more of my money! haha

I don't think there is an exchange rate because we aren't buying the music from the US. The songs are licensed by Canadian record labels and distributors. Apple Canada doesn't import music from the US to sell, like they do with computers. In Canada music is cheaper, so it makes sense that music online would be cheaper too.

That's fine, but a lot of people were basing their price arguments on the idea that it would be US$1, when obviously that would not be the case.

Same things were said when the US store first opened. It's more convience than anything else. You order album, wait one day before you get it. iTMS, you browse to the album you want, download said album, start listening/burning/transferring to iPod. All done on the same day.
