Good for Canada. Apple is finally treating USA North a little better. Maybe it's to make up for the raping you guys get on everything else in the Apple Store.

Actually Canadians get many things cheaper because of the physiological barrier.

In the US many things that cost $1 are still a dollar up here such as chocolate bars and soft drinks. Guess the same thing is happening in this case.

I think $1 CAN is too much for a song. The albums are a total rip off as you can buy the real CD online and have it shipped for much less most of the time.

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but if I remember correctly, there is no duty on change. Since the song is less than $1, maybe there is no exchange rate for the songs. Did they ask that instead of charging the songs, you mail them a bag of pennies?

Besides, it's not unusual for companies to offer discount pricing for third world countries.

For 84 cents a tune, Canadians should only be allowed to purchase the instrumental version of songs. They don't deserve the vocals for that price.

Apple should also charge a special Canadian tariff, just to connect to the store, inorder to browse. Also, French Canadians should pay more than other Canadians. Don't ask me why, they just should.

I don't think there is an exchange rate because we aren't buying the music from the US. The songs are licensed by Canadian record labels and distributors. Apple Canada doesn't import music from the US to sell, like they do with computers. In Canada music is cheaper, so it makes sense that music online would be cheaper too.

That's fine, but a lot of people were basing their price arguments on the idea that it would be US$1, when obviously that would not be the case.

Same things were said when the US store first opened. It's more convience than anything else. You order album, wait one day before you get it. iTMS, you browse to the album you want, download said album, start listening/burning/transferring to iPod. All done on the same day.
