Hope Im in the correct forum

a friend of mine's G4 finally died. he wants to get a MacMini. if he takes out the HD in the G4 (10.4.xxx) and puts it in a firewire box, will the new mini run migration assistant to that Drive?

Yes. And it doesn't even need to be FW either. USB will work too.
