Just got this email -
Hello friends of Office 2008 for Mac,

As Corporate Beta participants, we want to thank you again for your efforts in Beta testing Office 2008 for Mac. We appreciate all of the energy and enthusiasm you have put toward making Office 2008 for Mac better and better.

The Macintosh Business Unit would like to send you a small gift as an additional thank you for your contribution. A complimentary copy of Office 2008 will not be provided; if a retail copy is required for organizational training, please contact your MS account manager.

Please update your Connect account profiles by January 27 with your preferred shipping address in the "Home Address" fields, https://connect.microsoft.com/profile.aspx. We will use these addresses to ship your gift as soon as possible after the 27th.

If you have problems updating your Connect profile, or if you won't be able to update your address by January 27, or if you have any other questions, please email us at [email protected].

One last reminder: the current Beta 8 build will expire March 15. The Connect program will remain open at least through the end of the month, and we will continue to investigate all feedback you submit. Thank you!

Derek, Robby, Emma, and the MacBU Team

All kidding aside, was this a typo?

I've done quality testing on pre-release software and hardware before, and while I can understand sending the hardware back, but there are no hard costs associated with software. I would think that they would, at the very least, give you a key and the ability to download the GM disk image.

Given how shite and crippled Office 2008 is, even when mentioned in jest to get Office 2007 instead does not equate to being a booby prize.
