Hello all-- Hope someone can help me out here. I've got 20,000 email messages in a locally stored mail folder in Mail.app called "Archive." I'm running 10.5.1 mail

I had to wipe my hard drive and restore from a Time Machine backup. (I did a full backup right before the wipe.)

After the restore, Mail.app acted like it needed to import messages again. I thought, "That's weird" and skipped it. Now Mail.app won't see the 20,000 archived emails. Nor will Spotlight find them when searched from Mail.app's toolbar. (It still finds them if i search from the main menu bar.)

The messages are still there. i can see them in the Finder. But Mail.app can't see them. And every time I try "Import...", whether as an mbox or a mail from a previous version, it crashes Mail.app.

The weird thing is if I Turn Time Machine on while in Mail.app, the 20,000 messages pop right up in the (Now) setting but are invisible if I go back to previous versions. I can't restore them either. (Restore choice is grayed out.)

Anyone have any ideas how I can get this resolved? It's making me crazy!

Quit Mail.
Go to your Home Folder/Library/Mail.
Delete Envelope Index.
Start Mail.
It will offer to import emails.

SInce I security upgraded, Mail 2.1.2 has started to behave badly.

OS 10.4.11

Crashes for no apparent reason, didn't used to at all.

Sometimes opens all wrong, wrong size, wrong emails settings, wrong everything.

Doesn't lose any info, just starts up all crazy like.

Annoying to have to set up the views yet again.
