I see one of the three examples below happening...

1) Microsoft will announce a new Office suite and further drop the price of their current X software.

2) They will extend their promotion of Office X even further.

3) The promotion ends and nothing happens.

What does everyone else think?

#3. Conspiracies are out today aren't they? First, a "new" gui to Panther from DVD Studio Pro, now this.

Microsoft has already extended this promotion twice now, I believe. So it's not out of the question that if the new Office suite isn't ready to be shown, they will extend this promotion until it is ready.

I expect some sort of announcement on Tuesday. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

Meh so what if we don't see office, we have Open Office! Go OOo!
OK yes M$ office would be nice to keep around... but I get the feeling M$ might just stop producting.... which would kinda suck cause then OOo will have to build a whole new file reading system for all this XML stuff that they'll be putting in. So oh well, it'll be a lil while before OOo has compatability with M$ office again... not a huge deal since you can probably just have people save things as old office files.

3. Office X seems plenty good to me. I don't see the immediate need for an update to version 11. Some bugs could be fixed in X, but I still think its a good suite. Too many people whine about Office, but its actually stable compared to its Windows version!

I think it'll just end. office 11 is not coming out for awhile yet, and I'm sure it'll be out first on PC before the mac version is ported. So... I would say at least another year or so before it comes to Mac.

I'd vote 2 or 3, depending on how the promotion is going. If they've seen a steady influx of sales, I'd say they'll extend it.

3. I highly doubt that we'll see a new Office soon.

I surely didn't buy Office X, how the heck is a student like me supposed to afford this crap? The world sets a standard and I'm supposed to conform? Bill Gates gets rich and I waste my money. F that. :

how about the deal ends but you can still get it for $199 if you buy a new Mac and get MSN (which they release for mac) broadband service at the same time?

Hmmm, we'll see.

I do expect some sort of an announcement to come out of Microsoft tomorrow, whether it's the release of their MSN for Mac software, extension of their recent promotion or something different alltogether...

Well, the page is gone and Apple's site suggests Office never existed anyway, so this looks kinda sad.
