is it a problem with my USB ports? It seems that it shows up next to kernel info in the report, and seems to also only happen when I am using 1 specific USB port I believe...

Hey, I'm having exactly the same problem, with an almost identical panic log. Do you by any chance use a Treo 680, and does it happen either at the start or end of a hotsync?

Yes, this does appear to be related to USB issues. The error indicates Registers as well. Did this happen before you updated to 10.4.9. Do you have any USB dongle based apps or Parallels Desktop installed?

Both Parallels and 10.4.9/Spotlight have introduced some USB 2.0 problems with our video capture devices, XtraView USB and ProView USB, which we are fixing. I am curious if this is a related issue.

I'm on 10.4.8. no dongles or parallels. I have a hunch this is Treo 680-related. With my older 650, a usb connection was only established when you did a hotsync. and it was disconnected when the hotsync finished. Now with the 680, the usb connection is always up as long as the usb cable is plugged in. When you hotsync, it is actually taken down and brought straight back up. At the end of a hotsync, the usb connection is taken down and immediately comes back up again. My hunch is that this quick down/up might be causing the problem. I use MissingSync software for syncing, but I don't really think it's involved. But I was also able to get a panic by using the MissingSync app on the Treo to create a usb connection. This is used to "mount" the Treo's sd card on the Mac. Again, this causes the "permanent" usb connection to go down and another one come straight back up. And when you disconnect the app on the Treo the usb connection goes down and up. After doing this maybe 15 times the panic happened.

Can you shed any light?
