So I have a new imac (bought in december of 09), and I did the software update like i normally do each week, however this time...there was an update for mail, so I downloaded and installed it, and now whenever I try to start mail, it tells me this....

"You have Mail version 4.2 (1077/1078). It can’t be used on Mac OS X Version 10.6.3 (Build 10D573). For more information, click the Help button."

All I'm asking is how can I fix this ? I have never run into a problem like this before.

Thanks-

I honestly can't remember if the update changed mail specifically, but I remember an update, restarting, and then mail did not work....any ideas as to how I can fix the mail compatibility problem ? Like download an older version somehow ?

Interesting since that's the version of Mail in 10.6.3. Try running the 10.6.3 Combo updater.

There's no reason to use Software Update so religiously, in truth.
