Hey guys,
I have a MINI Cooper (non-S) with a Borla Catback Exhaust mod. I enjoy it, but its kind of loud for my long commute.
Is there anything I can do to silence it? Would changing tips help? Can you point me to a good website/shop?
I'm in the DC Metro area if that helps,
Jorge

I thought this was going to be a thread about exhausting the moderators.
It can be done, you know.

You shouldn't have bought a far tip.

I used to have a Mini MkIII (1974) with a 1000cc engine and that pretty fat pipe at the back with 2 gas tanks.
I miss it. It is a convertible now...
But I did enjoy the low growl coming from it on idle...

Why did you add the exhaust in the first place ? You know, I know and we all know that it probably looks stupid and it adds nothing to the car except for annoying noise.

yea, really.. borlas have lots of sound. maybe should have gone with a low-end dynomax or maybe a flowmaster 3 chamber muffler.
I have dual flowmaster 3 chambers on my 5.0L stang and it's about as quiet as possible (considering I have headers and an X-pipe with no catylitic converters) ie-freakin' loud. with the cats tho it'd be relatively quiet

i'd bet it adds a solid 4-7HP, considering it's supercharged. granted, a full header, no-cat, hi-flow muffler setup would be ideal, probably giving 10-15 HP.
meh.

Now, I'm not too well up on cars with less than 250 lb/ft going on, but ain't the S model the charged one, with the non-S being normally aspirated?

Correct, the S is supercharged. The Mini One and Mini Cooper are not supercharged. And then there is the Mini One D, which is turbocharged, naturellement.

oh yeah, and umm.. i'd rip that exhaust right off, replacing it stock.
it's giving you +1HP, and -2 lb/ft torque.

Yeah, diesel. 1.4 liter 4-cylinder. 75bhp and 180nm torque, at 4000 and 2000 rpm respectively.
