Damn, I completely forgot about the whole NewsFactor thing. Funny, I was reading those threads and I saw myself in my old building where I first read them. Good find.

I remember when the NewsFactor thing happened. I was in Germany at the time, and reading the forums in a CyberCafe.

So, NewsFactor affiliated with MacNN and wanted to control everything? Is that the gist of what happened?

Going through that Newsfactor thread, I noticed that in 2001, 'NN nerds all sounded like they were living in the 19th century.

I've been registered since March, 2005, but I've only been posting consistently for a little over a year. I probably missed 90% of the good stuff.

This place seemed more exciting 6 months ago, it seems, but there's already been a thread about that.

The scary thought is that I joined the forums right after getting my iMac (back in '99).. and that I've been around to watch since then.

Considering how young and stupid I was back then, I don't ever want to see any of my early posts... I know I was an opinionated little bugger back then who thought he knew rather more than I actually did at the time.

Don't try to outweird me, I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal.

You need 8 years to find something you said to be embarrassing?

Maybe I'm just an idiot, but I'm embarrassed by things I said last week.

Remember when the platform was sliding into the fire pit and I said "Goodbye" and you were like "No way!" and then I was all "We pretended we were going to murder you"? That was great.

I found this with Misha's name on it from 2003, in reference to the NFN and his departure:
MacNN/NewsFactor (historical note), and MacMinute's origin [Archive] - Mac Forums

Gorgonzola's still around as an admin, I think. He's just not an active poster.

That's a fun graphic above. Who made it? starman?

That was LE and Philzilla. The board kind of collapsed in the end but other stuff grew from the wreckage and is alive and well to this day.

I was referring to the "enemies" I've made in the mod squad.

Being funny around here these days is like running in the 1936 Olympics.

I can't remember his name, but there was one member that *always* defended the Islamic suicide bombers, etc. He was constantly saying that what they were doing was justified, and saying that the rest of the world was in the wrong. He wrote a thread about leaving and not coming back because everyone was against him.

It was a happy day when he left for good. Seems like it has been a year or two since that happened.

There was a large thread about it in the feedback forum. Basically ban evasion, and posting a thread so bad it had to immediately be deleted. Also he's been in contact with members here via AIM trying to stir up strife.

I thought it was Logic, but then I did a search for him and it seems that he has been posting pretty recently so then I thought I must be wrong. If he came back and is posting again he has changed his style quite a bit.

That is sort of what it seems like lately. The annoying thing is that Kevin was so inconsistent. He could be agreeable one minute, then a total opposite person the next.

That's why I have no problem with him. This whole banned business just shows that Kevin doesn't always practice what he preaches.
