I'm too scared to install this. Maybe it will revert my system back to the way it was in 10.4.1.
Did you uninstall the Safari 3 beta before installing this?

Well, its installed with no problems. It took some time to restart and my moms iMac G5 restarted itself after the 1st restart, but everything is ok now.

on my G4, 22 gigs! (oh wait, thats 22 MEGS); not much expected to change.
2 restarts, as mentioned.
still...colors seem more vivid, depth more 3d-like (or maybe thats just the drugs kicking in...)

Did it in full paranoia mode, permissions, verify disk, nothing else running. I didn't go so far as safe mode. Everything seems fine on the ancient G4...!

Why would I go to the trouble to install the combo update when Software Update is just right here? That's stupid. How many people actually do that??

Its not stupid, because there's been too many occurrences of an update going bad with the delta but working fine with the combo. Combo gives you everything, and if software update got it wrong or if you did something this is the safest approach to applying a fix.

So yeah UNO is broken in 10.4.10 it thinks 10.4.10 is older than 10.4.4 anyway I can fool the software into thinking I have 10.4.9 sat least until I have UNO back installed? Then I can change it back after?
I tried editing the UNO applescript where it checks that but it is run-only

It's so wasteful to download the combo update. Pretty soon people will be whining about how download speeds are slow with everybody downloading the combo.
I think it's stupid, personally. Just my opinion.

I installed the update, and while it still recognizes my USB speaker system (Yamaha AP-U70), nothing now plays through them and I can't select it as the sound output option in System Preferences. Any ideas? I'm on an iMac Core Duo with 2GB RAM. Thanks!

UNO is still fine for me on 2 different machines but I didn't uninstall it before the update. Are you guys saying you can't reapply it?

Installed just fine. Double reboot. Didn't have a combo-bee-bop updater thingy. I'm content so far.

Your sig is way too large. Fix it.
As for 10.4.10... No problems, altough is looks like the volume output of my iMac's speakers is lower again. I think that .9 increased the volume ? It looks to be back to pre-.9 volume. I could be imagining this.
What are the values that you people are seeing in the Audio/Midi config app when the volume is at 1 bar? I'm seeing 0,06 and -48,19dB for both channels.
EDIT: just read on the macrumors forums that other people are experienceing the same problem.

All my windows are back to the pre-uno state and uno refuses to run for me saying it needs at least 10.4.4 this is on 3 machines

Ditto. Used the Software Update, not Combo.
I had a very long reboot, then a second reboot.

Also with the new update, it seems like you dont have to hold the eject button for putting the computer to sleep.

Damn...after updating to 10.4.10 I'm getting seemingly random popping noises from my external speakers. I'm on a 15" MBP, 2.16 C2D; 2GB RAM

Installed the combo updater on my 2.16GHz original Core Duo MacBook Pro.
Already had Safari 3 beta installed.
Seems to be running just fine. Don't notice anything different, but nothing is broken as far as I can tell (though I do not use any haxies or skinning add-ons). Safari 3 beta survived the update intact. The update refers to external devices. A 2GB thumb drive and a 160GB USB WD Passport mini hard drive still work as they always did (that is to say they work just fine).
Double boot after the install as typical for the recent crop of updates.
Haven't yet installed on my Mac Pro (I'm presently out of town) or on my wife's 2.0GHz MacBook Core Duo.

That's a recurring report.
From what I've seen (maybe it was here? I'm too tired to go look) that's the audio clicking on after being powered down; I haven't noticed it yet, will run on battery for a while to see if it happens.

I applied the update and security fix, and now my monitor won't work with my AddLogix KVM DVI switch! The keyboard is connected and works, but the monitor stays black.

Yes it was the combo updater that did it to me
I will never do a combo update again, it seems some things that 10.4.3 fixed ruined uno so since I did the combo it reverted those things again.
I did the combo because I have a few systems with diff versions at that point, but I will just do the updates on each next time
Anyway I edited the "SystemVersion.plist" and installed uno, then changed it back, all is good an UNO is back Waiting for UNO 1.6 because 1.5 ruins iTunes (so save a copy of itunes elsewhere if you install uno with iTunes 7.2)

I'm waiting for the Apple OS update that doesn't need another Apple OS update to fix what the first broke.
Does Apple employ any quality assurance personnel, or do they just rely on their early adopters?

For the record, I always install the combo updates and have never had a problem.

I have never had a problem with a single OS X update. While I'll agree that Apple's updates are far from bug free, Apple probably bets that most people fall into the problem free category and that it's less costly to let some bugs and incompatibilities through than to get everything completely right on every system and every possible configuration each and every time.

While it's certainly true that they can't be expected to test for every possible system, you'd think they'd at least be able to test the current generation of systems and 1 or 2 previous generations. I've heard of bug on Intel iMacs, MacBooks, and MBPs for 10.4.9 and 10.4.10. There shouldn't be any bugs on updates for these systems.

Yawn. Maybe they just don't test extensively with every 3rd party crapware haxie.
