So I busted out my 6800, while the rest of my family eats, my uncles watch tv, and my aunts gossip in the dining room. And while my cousins play SA in the sunroom, I'm here accompanied by my younger cousin, while we dismantle and put together the 6800. we have the computer online and downloading various os 9 updates. We finally got it to 9.2.2.
The thing is however old (225 Mhz, 32 mb ram, 4 gb HD, 2 mb Ati Rage) and it can play WC 2 online and Mech Warrior all the better, but when I log onto the internet the HD goes wild, and the computer comes to an almost complete halt. Mozilla and netscape idle for about 30 - 60 sec after I press enter or click on a new link to a web page and ie downloads at 5k though mozilla and netscape download at the appropriate speed, 1 mb. And if I run AIM, it goes bonkers as well. WTF is up w/ my mac? Should I downgrade it to 8.5? I have seen LC 2's run the internet better than this. Should I drop $15 and get more memory?

well, thx in advance.

I really doubt LC2s are on the web. I don't think you should be running 9.2.2 on a 6800. I may be wrong, but if I remember correctly 9.2.2 was an update for G3s and above only. I think 9.2.2 also contained some major revisions to OpenTransport, which may explain why you're having Internet connectivity problems. I can surf the web to a really limited extent on my old Quadra 650, so no, you really should not be having such difficulties with a 6800. For my money, OS 8.6 was the best release of the Mac OS, so I would recommend either downgrading to it or downgrading to a lower version of 9.

Hope you're a having a great Thanksgiving.

Yeah there were a couple of LC 2's hooked up still to the internet back in elementary school.

But yeah I'll downgrade now probably, I just need to get over this cider buzz.... oh and I fried my zip drive ... don't know why or how. Just happened.
