What is it? That eggplant king is captivating. And the coloring is amazing. I can't tell who the art style reminds me of, but it's awesome.

Don't turn around, Uh-uh-oh.

Cool! I didn't know there was an English version of that song!

("Einzelhaft" is an absolutely kick-ass record, btw.)

One of the first songs on heavy heavy rotation when MTV launched. By After the Fall, if I remember right.

Actually, it's After the Fire.

BTW, it's a cover. Falco did the original.

Like I said, yes. However, the cover by After the Fire was a big hit here in America.

Canada had the German version first too. I used to have the Einzelhaft cassette but I can no longer find it.

I remember Falco's track playing here, but don't recall After the Fire. Was a long time ago though. Falco died a few years ago, while he was in the Dominican Republic I think.

Falco (Johann Hlzel, 1957-1998) is Austrian - not German by the way (like this other guy)!

Both were played, but it was After the Fire that got most played in the USA, though I would assume Falco made most of the money anyhow, since he wrote the original of course. After the Fire would have to had paid Falco money for every copy sold, not to mention Falco would also receive broadcast royalties for radio play.

The only other artist I can think of that sang in german that got airplay in the USA would be Nena, with 99 luftballons/99 redballoons. I remember they played both the german and english versions on US radio.

Next in line was supposed to be Peter Schilling with "Major Tom" (not the Bowie song). Great song. They had an English version recorded and released, as well as extended mixes and everything. They'd even got booked on the Ed Sullivan show, but Schilling canceled because he would've had to sing live. End of story.

(One of his bandmembers at the time is a good friend of mine.)

I have that song (English version) on an old K-Tel compilation - "Rock '84", I believe. You're right - great song.

My worst sig award goes to...

Creeping Death.

Congrats, kiddo. Your perpetual lack of design flair and overt political messages (who cares?) made you a shoe-in (shoo-in?). That sig gallery made my eyeballs hurt. Also, just so you know, eagles cannot cry and eagles don't give a sh!t about the twin towers, excpet for maybe in the sense that the twin towers were a major killer of migratory birds.
