Cross Posted in Peripherals too... (and the synology forums).
So I have just got a Synology NAS. I also have a Sonos and iTunes Match.
My main library is currently on my Macbook Pro. I have one other laptop and my wife has one. We have no desktops.
I am in the (long) process of re-consolidating my library onto the NAS. I would like to be able to run the Sonos without my Macbook Pro in the circuit. However, I would also like to a) have the library update as I buy stuff and b) be able to play music on my MBP when not at home.
Have I done the right thing?

Not to be a forum nazi but one thread is better than two. It consolidates the discussion and also means that the answers are not fragmented. Only reason why I clicked on the link is that I thought you were a spammer bombarding the boards with the same post.
Can't help you with your problem, Mr Secret Sleeper Spammer Guy.

I have no experience / knowledge about Sonos, so I can't speak to that part.
My whole iTunes library "lives" on a Synology NAS, and it works fine.
However, this is only my Mac's iTunes Library. My MBP can not share the same library.
The MBP, however, CAN access the the music stored on the Synology. It's like connecting to any other Mac with a shared library.

Is the Mac able to transfer imported material (say, from CD) into the Synology-stored library?
Because back when I tried running a network-based solution for a while, it was monstrously annoying that I had to manually copy everything over to the library folder and THEN add it to iTunes.
It would be nice to know that they've finally fixed that.
