After reading about all of the excesive noise problems with the mirror drive door Powermacs, I'm curious, what was the Quicksilver
Powermacs biggest issue?

Early on, there were mysterious monitor flashes with the Radeon 9000 and Apple ADC flat panel displays. Seems like there was a firmware fix for that, finally.

I love mine.

The quicsilvers, though VERY long in coming, are probably the most solid G4's yet.

Actually the one popular defect in the quicksilver was on the face

between the zip and cd bays there's usually this big long mold line that sometimes (like on my g4) goes almost half way down the front of the case.

Sadly, it is UGLY, though it only shows up if you look at the g4 from a certain angle (like head on).

Otherwise, I agree, they are some of the best (both in looks and performance) g4s built yet.

i picked up my QS at the end of it's product life cycle (and with decent rebates :-D) and i must say, i haven't had any problems with the hardware or the software running with the hardware. it's not picky like my Lombard :-) it just chugs along day in and day out.

The issue that most people had with the QS was:
1) It isn't 100% silent
2) It isn't faster then the fastest Pentium 4
3) It didn't hold enough RAM (Everyone needs over 1.5 GB of RAM)
4) It still comes with that lame one button mouse
5) Their aren't enough

Ok, I'm being very sarcastic, but most people that buy Macs not only want EVERYTHING, but they want everything to be perfect. I really don't remember all that many issues with the G4 tower.

I picked up a G4 tower for cheap and absolutely love it.

how can you forget, no eject button? I love mine (IIRC, MacGorilla and I are from the same litter of dual 1G's?), but I think it was really stupid to omit an eject button on the optical drive.

people also complain about lack of analog audio input and second 5.25" drive bay

There is audio input available from griffintechnology.com. It is called (iMic)
All you need besides i Mic is a microphone.
