So I have an iPod and I have a MacBook Pro in the mail. My question is; if I install my WInodws on a Fat32 partition. and then I store my iTunes on their, will iTunes still be able to load up all the songs and data, and then windows can do the same. Or is this not going to work?

As long as the Windows partition is FAT32 (instead of NTFS) both OSs should be able to see anything on it, so your plan should work fine.

Remember that you'll have two different versions of iTunes involved, so you'll have to tell each one exactly where your music files are (using "Add Files to Library" or "Add Folders to Library"). It's a detail, but an important one.

Also remember that it's limited to a certain maximum size (32GB I believe) which might not be enough for many people's music and a Windows XP installation.

Max partition Size is 32GB? OKay, that simplifies it then. I think I'll take a differnet aproach to this then.

Thanks!

Actually the 32GB limitation is only for Win2K. XP apparently allows FAT32 partitions to be any size that BIOS supports.

Theres no reason you can't format the Windows partition in NTFS for what you want to do. OS X can read NTFS, just not write to it. So you can manage your iTunes library under windows, ie adding songs to it etc, but you can still access the files in OS X. This will help if you want a partition over 32 gigs.

AFAIK, the Intel Macs have the 32 GB limitation on FAT32 partitions. When I 1st installed XP on my iMac, I tried to do a 40 gig partition in FAT32, and the option was not present in the XP installer - it would only let me format NTFS
iMac Core Duo 1.83 Ghz | 1.25GB RAM | 160HD, MacBook Core Duo 1.83 Ghz | 13.3" | 60HD | 1.0GB RAM
