What in the heck is this Navigation Services folder inside the Preferences folder?

In my folder, some 1.5 meg of mostly old aliases are inside. Can I delete them?

I can tell some of them are folder aliases where I frequently download files. But the rest are aliases of misc files -- including of originals I have lone since deleted.

yes, you can delete the contents of the Recent Items folder in the Navigation Services.

navserv is just what it says it is, it's MacOS's way of 'watching' you and where you navigate and what you use, etc

Those aliases are used to easily get to your most recent items in the "new" open and save dialog boxes. They are there to help you.
