No sooner had we launched our campaign for Apple to raise its prices - last week's hikes being considered too puny - then a real-life petition has echoed our call.
Only it's for real: life imitating satire. The petition can be found here - it's already attracted over 600 signatures. (Signatory No.46 is David Pogue. That David Pogue?) .....

The petition, asinine that it is, says NOTHING about wanting Apple to raise prices, but rather accepting their current strategy and calling for the whiners to stfu.
God, I hate the Register.

The Register has been disappointing lately. So i've replaced them with The Inquirer.net.

I still love El Reg.. just have a look at their front page, it immediately grabs you as both interesting and amusing.

I don't think the register opinion piece is serious. I think they're as amazed by the people who want to pay through the nose as we are. It's written out of shock.
Like the comic book guy, "Please, take my fifty dollars. I don't want it."

It beggars belief to have a petition asking for a price reduction of a product. It's like starting a petition that a particular political party should win an election - ie. it's redundant. If a sufficient number of potential purchasers feel the price is too high then Apple will get that message loud and clear through reduced sales. This will have far more impact on them than any online petition, and will be a "sample" of a far larger and more representative group of people. If sales continue in a healthy manner it will confirm that the price was seen as reasonable by the majority of consumers. Of course if those people who feel the price is unreasonable buy a copy anyway then the strength of their message will be diluted.
