Example:
I want to access my intranet server via PPTP.
What I've tried so far:
Set up the PPTP connection, all working. Aliased 10.0.0.2 (IP of the server) to "example" in /etc/hosts. Set up "VPN on Demand" for the PPTP VPN connection using .vpn as the domain.
Now if I'm not mistaken, Mac OS X should establish the tunnel and connect to the server whenever I type
http://example.vpn in Safari. But it doesn't work, at all. I can tell that it connects to the VPN (asks for Keychain Access) but Safari doesn't connect to the server. Aliasing example.vpn to 10.0.0.2 in the /etc/hosts seems to break the VPN on demand function. It doesn't trigger the tunnel in the first place.
Does anyone have experience with this feature?
