Sounds a bit strange, I would like to know if the iLife and iWork within the Snow Leopard version of Mac Box Set is universal binary or not, so that I can install it into my PPC Mac (as well as my Intel Mac of course)

Assuming you're getting the family version, it should still be Universal.

Can you confirm it by checking the disc (or someone even install it on a PPC Mac)?

I can't confirm it since I don't have it. However, I highly doubt Apple is going to create a new version of iLife and iWork just to make it Intel only for that disc.
