Go with a firewire camera if you can. Maccam offers help with non-OS X USB webcams, but I think it does cost a few bucks.

Go with an iSight if you can afford it. Check out the marketplace forum to see if anyone is selling one. They're great, and the quality is excellent.

If you NEED an iSight, you can find them on eBay but they are usually selling for more than they were originally worth (MSRP $149.) You can find higher resolution FireWire OS X compatible web cams (that are also smaller) elsewhere for much less. Logitech makes great web cams and if you look area for a coupon or discount code you can pick one up for $80 shipped.

I don't know if anyone here has checked completed listings on eBay lately, but since the iSight came off the Apple website last month, iSights are selling like rare hotcakes: there are completed listings for $250 to $299 for new-in-box iSights there. Good luck!

This guy is selling one in the marketplace for $100. Practically brand new.
