what's the oldest piece of software you currently have installed on your mac? do you still use it?

mine is "multi resolutions" from os 9. think it came out in late '97. don't really use it anymore, but would come in handy if needed again.

what about you?

Beat that.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

I've got copies of a couple of disks of games that came with my Mac Plus. It's mostly shareware stuff, the disks were put together by the local Mac dealer.

After a rummage around, I've got a couple of old apps that run under Classic just fine (the rest I was playing with in vMac).

The oldest software I could find on my hard drive that still ran is "Mystery Box" by Keith Lambert. It's dated June 26, 1986, and was at version 1.00.

The other app that ran OK under Classic was "Monopoly for the Macintosh" by Thomas E. Fosson, Copyright 1986-1987. The only thing was that I couldn't switch out of it and switch back using the dock. I could switch back OK if I used Command-Tab.

I tested both in Classic on Mac OS X 10.3.2 running on a G5.

I have a copy of photoshop 1 lying around somewhere. Although, I don't have OS9 installed anymore (I was surprised it ran on that, actually...) so it's not really much use to me except for nostalgia.

anyone remember Disktop ?
I still use it in classic. For a program that old...nothing beats its ease of using for moving, copying and deleting files. The only problem is it no longer accurately gives the number of files in a closed folder, nor the right used/unused size of partitions.
But for moving and renaming, it still works better than most new software I've tried.

Word 5.1 is my current word processor. Fast as hell and reliable + no compatibility problems (yet).

Except it doesn't know what the word "Internet" is.

I said it won't run under Classic with sound. I know it'll run under under emulation (vMac, Basilisk). I didn't know there was a newer version floating around, though, so that's a plus. So to speak Thanks!

I have a theory that ankle_brains is a computer program that generates questions for some marketing firm.

Hang on, let me run a tracer and find out who this really is.

Hmmmm, the name Bill Gates keeps coming up.
