Yeah, you just rub it in. Enjoy your stupid LOTR DVD. Especially when I have to wait at least another 12 hours before I'll have time to get get a copy

So, how is it? Are the special features really cool?

Other than the actual movie I've only watched the preview for the Two Towers so far. That was pretty damned cool though.

Sorry to bug ya (I'm a complete LOTR freak and can't wait a few hours to see it for myself) but is TTT preview just the trailer or is it more in depth with like behind the scenes type stuff?

It's mostly behind the scenes stuff. It's really cool. They have some awesome shots of the sets, and some really cool info on the cg stuff too.

I am not getting the DTS special DVD when it comes out in November.
Nuts to the lame 5.1 single disk that came out today.

Dolby 5.1 may not be the best, but I didn't have to pay for the system. My roommate got it at a huge discount because he has a friend who works for RadioShack.

Definitely a big step up from Dolby Pro Logic. And for free, who could complain?

I'm watching it right now--even the menus are in 5.1 rather than 2.1. Impressive.

I just finished most of disc 2. I was hoping for a little more behind the scene documentaries, but I guess that'll be coming in Nov.

I have yet to actually watch the movie. Probably do that tonight sometime. I'm sure it'll look really good on my 15" iMac with the awesome Pro Speakers and iSub (Damn I hate being poor--I don't even have a TV, let alone Dolby 5.1 audio)

Yup. A great reason too buy both copies like me . I love that the extented set will be 4 disks.

If they keep up like this just think how many DVD discs we will have when its all over

The extras on the just-released set are different from the ones on the 4-disc set, so keep that in mind.

I only have 2 speakers and intend to stay that way for quite some time, so I really couldn't care less about the differences between Pro-Logic and 5.1.
6.1 sounds rather lame IMHO, there really was no need for an extra channel.

LOL!!!

Yep, between LOTR and Star Wars I'm going to have way too many DVDs. If the other two LOTR flics are like FOTR that will total 18 DVDs. Each SW prequel will have 2 DVDs then they'll probably release a six DVD set with all the movies being an 'extra special edition' so that'll probably be another 18 DVDs total for SW. Woo hoo! I can't wait!
