i'm pretty sure that you can get your $25 relisting fee and/or the "final value fee" refunded by ebay if the other party backs out. there is a little e-paperwork involved. i think an email is sent to the buyer and if he confirms that he backed out, then you can get at least some of your money back.
perhaps you can try selling it using a friend's ebay account, someone who has a higher ebay rating than you.
