Hi, what is the difference between the following two folders? Most of the files in them look the same, but the total file count is a little different. Why do both of them exist?

/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/Apple Loops for GarageBand (<--1198 files)

/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Apple Loops/Apple Loops for GarageBand (<--1106 files)

Thanks.

The first is the new location for GarageBand's loops, the second is the old location.

God knows why it doesn't just move the things over to the Audio folder when you update, but that's how it is.

Wow, that's a stupid waste of space... so it's safe to delete that second folder?

That is 1.03 Gb of my hard drive wasted!

Thanks for flagging this up. Now I can make some more space on my HD.

I guess I'll have to re-index the loops afterwards to make sure Garageband doesn't choke.

So if I delete that old folder, it won't mess up GarageBand, correct?

It may not but the safest thing to do is to delete the Garageband loops index then re-index them. To do this quit garageband, delete the index, re-open Garageband, drag your loops folder into the loops browser and let it index them.
